HEX to RGB Converter

About the four formats

HEX colors are six hexadecimal digits — two each for red, green and blue — usually prefixed with #. A three-digit shorthand doubles each digit, and an optional fourth pair adds alpha, so #7c3aed80 is the same purple at half opacity.

RGB lists red, green and blue as numbers from 0 to 255, matching how screens mix light. It is the format most APIs, canvas code and design tools expect, and rgba() adds an opacity value from 0 to 1.

HSL describes a color by hue (0–360 on the color wheel), saturation and lightness. It is easier to reason about than raw channels — rotating a hue or dimming a color is a single number change — which makes it popular for theming.

OKLCH is the perceptual color space from CSS Color 4 — lightness, chroma and hue that track how colors actually look. Equal lightness values appear equally bright, which makes it a good base for design systems and generated palettes. Every modern browser supports it.

Conversion runs entirely in the browser — nothing is uploaded — and alpha carries through every format, from eight-digit hex to oklch(… / 0.5).
